Redshirt junior Cory Durden joined the growing list of Florida State Seminoles to opt out of the rest of the 2020 season — and is now in the transfer portal.
The hard penetrating defensive tackle flirted with the NFL last year before deciding to come back to Tallahassee for another year. He has been highly rated by Pro Football Focus for his ability to get after the passer from the interior recording two sacks in 2018 and six in 2019.

Durden and Marvin Wilson were part of the same 2017 recruiting class that marked Jimbo’s last at FSU and ranking sixth overall for that year. Of the 23 commits in that class only seven remain on the roster but a few, like Cam Akers and Stanford Samuels, did leave early for the NFL.
Originally considered a strength of the team the defensive tackle depth has become thin as of late because of players leaving the program or getting injured. Robert Cooper and Fabien Lovett are the likely starters going forward but the Seminoles will have to lean on some unproven players to eat up snaps.
