Each week before Florida State home football games, a brand new edition of SodTalk is released on Seminoles.com. SodTalk is an interview with a former FSU football legend, reflecting on their career and discussing some of the memorable “sod games” during their time at Florida State.
Normally held outside the Florida State Sod Cemetery on gamedays, SodTalk was moved to an online format this season due to the pandemic.
This week, Doug Mannheimer is joined by two receivers who helped lead Florida State to their first National Championship in 1993. Wideouts Matt Frier and Kez McCorvey, both starters in 1993, made huge plays for quarterback Charlie Ward during his Heisman-winning campaign.
McCorvey, an FSU Hall-of-Famer, is fourth in Florida State history in receptions (180), and fifth all-time in receiving yards (2,660). Frier had 44 catches for 594 yards his senior year in 1993, including a memorable 72-yard touchdown to top Miami.
