Florida State football was handed their fifth loss of the season tonight, as Pitt beat them by a score of 41-17. It was Florida State’s third 20+ point loss of the year. Mike Norvell mentioned in his presser that he still believes in his players. A few of those players spoke to the media after the loss. Here’s what they had to say:

Janarius Robinson

On field position struggle: “It’s pretty difficult. Defense, we got put in a tough position, but we got to respond when we get put in those tough positions and come out on top.”

On confidence level: “I think we get kind of frustrated. It’s just heartbreaking. I wouldn’t say our confidence is down. We just got to come back out there and respond.”

On how to improve: “We just got to be consistent. Every person doing their job. Sometimes we be so hyped to make plays. If we lock in on our own individual jobs, we’ll start playing together as a whole 11.”

On mindset moving forward: “I feel like our mindset is to come back to work. Keep working. We still trust the coaches and the coaches trust us, that’s a good sign.”

Amari Gainer

On the performance of the defense: “We gave up way too many points. We have to do a better job of tackling and executing.”

On mindset moving forward: “You can’t sit here, you can’t dwell on it. You have to get back up. We have to improve, we have to get better.”

Camm McDonald

On the offense: “I don’t think the execution on the first drive has any correlation to the lack of execution the rest of the game. We just have to figure out a way to execute and have success the rest of the game.”

On the defense: “Even though their back was against the wall, they kept fighting throughout the game.”

On Chubba Purdy’s extended action: “I told Chubba on the sideline that I was so impressed with the way he kept fighting. I love the way that he plays the game.”

On his emotions going into the game: “I was just going out there and trying to go through my reads. I was actually pretty calm.”

On the pressure Pitt was bringing: “I was just trying to go through some of my reads. They were just doing their twist game, I was just trying to run around and make some plays.”

On the pick six: “We had a little bit of miscommunication, that’s really what it was. We weren’t on the same page, but we’ll get that fixed.”

On his demeanor tonight: “Just ever since I started playing football, my dad and my family has always taught me to be a leader. My body language is going to feed off my teammates. I was just trying to be an upbeat person tonight.”

On how he would approach practice as the potential starter: “Just going to practice everyday and prepare like I’ve been doing. Making sure every little thing I do in practice is game like material. Prepare, prepare, prepare every day.”
