Florida State players speak after win vs. Duke

Seminoles pick up dominant win to close out home slate.

Florida State football got back in the win column tonight with a 56-35 win over the Duke Blue Devils.

The Seminoles offense looked explosive with Jordan Travis back under center. The three weeks off didn’t create any rust issues for the ‘Noles, as they raced out to a 28-0 lead. Mike Norvell had his players ready to play, despite all they’ve been through the last three weeks.

Florida State players spoke after the dominant win, here’s what they had to say:

Redshirt sophomore running back Jashaun Corbin

“We know it has been a long time since we have stepped on the field. All credit to the coaches, the offensive line, everyone who had a part.”

On the weeks of practice leading up: “It’s kind of like fall camp, where you are practicing each day but you don’t have a game coming up. To end it off with a win is huge.”

On the win: “It was a great feeling. Every day, no matter who is here, we are going to work hard every day. It felt rewarding, it was good vibes in the locker room.”

On fellow running backs Ja’khi Douglas and Lawrance Toafili; “I think a lot has been asked, but they are mature they can handle it. They are explosive players and they work hard every day in practice. Seeing them make plays is no surprise to me because I know what they can do.”

Freshman running back Lawrance Toafili

“It always feels good to help the team win and to contribute and be a part of the win. I just tried to do everything I can to help put the team in the best position.”

Redshirt sophomore Quarterback Jordan Travis

On responding to the 21-point Duke run: “There has been so much adversity this year, that is really nothing at this point. We just have to keep getting better every day.”

“It is the best feeling to win. That is what we are here to do every day, come out and win and get better.”

“It is a great feeling to get on the field and play football. To get out there and compete like that and have a game like that. But we have a lot still to work on.”

On performance from young skill position players: “It was a great watching that. Looking next to those guys and knowing how much talent they have. It is great feeling to just hand the ball off to them.”
