FSU gets commitment from blue-chip linebacker

Florida State Seminoles football got some good news on Monday, with head coach Mike Norvell and staff picking up a commitment from 2021 four-star Miami Northwestern linebacker Patrick Payton.

Payton, considered the No. 22 outside linebacker in the country according to 247 Composite rankings, visited the school back in January as part of FSU’s Junior Day.

He recently decommitted from the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and had offers from the Georgia Bulldogs, Kansas Jayhawks and Miami-Florida Hurricanes, amongst others.

Outside of Payton, the Seminoles currently have two other players in the 2021 class who spent time at linebacker in high school — three-star Jordan Eubanks out of Texas and three-star Shyheim Brown from Lake City in Florida.
