Florida State football began prep for the North Carolina Tar Heels with the first practice of the week this morning. The Seminoles are coming off their first win of the season, a 33-30 win over the Syracuse Orange, and looking to string together a pair of ACC wins. After Tuesday’s practice, head coach Mike Norvell spoke to the media to discuss some lessons from the Syracuse game and look ahead to the Tar Heels. Here’s some of what the head coach had to say:

“Thought we had a good work day today. Guys came out with a great spirit, kind’ve carrying off what we did Sunday. I really like the intent of our work... Still some things we are going to have to clean up throughout the week. I thought the purpose, the effort, the physicality, that all showed up.”

“We got to continue to build upon the positives we’ve shown but also eliminate the mistakes. The disciplinary things, keep bringing the penalties down. Play with our eyes, hands, and feet.”

“We know it’s a great challenge ahead of us but our guys our excited for the opportunity.”

“We have guys that really care... there’s just too much work that goes into it to have certain mistakes that show up.”

“I think our receivers are getting better. We had a couple drops that need to get eliminated, but I think the confidence in who they are and what they’re about, that is definitely growing. We’re going to need them to show up big here on Saturday.”
