“It's not a sin to get knocked down. But your butt better be getting up before you hit the ground.”

Florida State head coach Mike Norvell spoke on Monday after returning home from a road game against the Clemson Tigers and looking towards this weekend's matchup against the NC State Wolfpack. He spoke on attitude, officiating, special teams, and more:

  • Coach Norvell on defensive effort and penalties on the final drive against Clemson:

“I thought our defense did a really nice job of responding. They got put into some challenging situations throughout the game and continued to battle. In the game-deciding drive, we had those two penalties for 30-yards and we had the run where we had a couple of missed tackles. Credit to the back he did a good job running hard but it's definitely something they can clean up.”

  • On requesting clarification on some of the officiating calls during the game:

“If there's something I’d like more insight on I always send that in. The league does a good job of how they respond in those situations and at the end of the day, being an official, there are some challenging moments, some judgment calls that are made, and we’re all working through that. It’s one of those things for us to get the best perspective on how things are going to be viewed and just trying to do the best job of educating our guys in those situations.”
