UPDATE, 3:35 PM: McKenzie Milton has been named the starting quarterback on the Florida State video board during pre-game warm-ups. Jordan Travis was not present during any of pre-game warm-ups. Tate Rodemaker will be QB2.
The Florida State Seminoles are expected to have a different signal caller at the start of its game against the North Carolina State Wolfpack today. Per Noles247, transfer McKenzie Milton is expected to get the call after not seeing the field since the Louisville game. Jordan Travis was not on the field with the other QB’s getting loose about two hours prior to the game. We’ll continue to update the situation in our live pre-game updates thread.
Reports are that quarterback Jordan Travis was sick with a flu-like bug over the past week. The “bug” has run rampant through the Tallahassee area over the past week and a half. On Wednesday, Mike Norvell said, “It’s been a little bit of a challenging week. We’ve had some guys that have been out of practice. Some bugs are going through. It’s one of those things being on a college campus.”
Milton, a transfer from UCF, last started in Florida State’s loss against the Louisville Cardinals. In that game, Milton finished with 248 passing yards, but threw a late interception to seal the victory for Louisville. On the season, Milton has thrown for 548 passing yards and two touchdowns. He has also thrown four interceptions.
The quarterback depth could be thin in the game today as redshirt freshman Chubba Purdy announced he was entering his name in the transfer portal earlier in the week. While Milton is a capable quarterback, the news is a blow to the Florida State offense, as Travis had led the offense to victories in three of their last four games.
