For the second season under head coach Mike Norvell, Florida State’s roster of players took part in Tour of Duty workouts and the offseason conditioning program.
After FSU released an updated spring roster Friday afternoon, we can put some tangible numbers to the hard work the players have put in the past few months. Strength and conditioning coach Josh Storms met with the media also on Friday, and spoke about not only the physical gains but the mental improvements FSU players have made already this offseason.
“It’s from showing up everyday and doing the work. Mental toughness starts with how you are approaching that work for the day.” said Storms. “Getting guys in that mindset that the most important thing is getting the job done...Keeping the main thing the main thing. If you can do that do that, day in and day out over time, confidence builds, mental toughness builds.”
After comparing the new roster’s listed measurables for each player, it looks like numerous Noles either gained or lost double-digit pounds (depending on what their goal was).
“It’s been a great couple months with our guys coming back. Starting the offseason program, the work that they have put in, some of the physical developments have been just absolutely outstanding,” said Norvell. “The growth of our guys from body weight, to strength, to some of the mental growth that we have seen.”
Let’s take a look at some of the notable differences from each Seminole position group heading into spring practice.
