Florida State football has announced its finalized slate of 2024 opponents, announcing today that it has added the Memphis Tigers as part of its non-conference slate.
“I’m excited for this group of non-conference opponents,” head coach Mike Norvell said. “Memphis is one of the top Group of 5 programs in the country, and trips to South Bend are always special with the history between our two programs. Having these three opponents coming to Tallahassee, along with going to Notre Dame, provides us a challenging but opportunistic non-conference slate.”
Charleston Southern, Notre Dame and Florida will make up the remainder of non-conference opponents, while the Seminoles will also face off against Clemson, Boston College, Wake Forest, Louisville, Miami (FL), NC State, Syracuse, and Duke.
No dates have been announced for games, with exception to the Florida game, scheduled for November 30.
FSU and Memphis are certainly no strangers to each other, as they were both members of the Metro Conference together in sports other than football like men’s basketball and baseball.
In 18 prior meetings, Florida State’s all-time record on the gridiron against Memphis is 10-7-1. They first faced off way back in 1959. After losing to the Tigers in his first season in 1976, legendary former FSU head coach Bobby Bowden went 8-0-1 the rest of his career versus Memphis. It will be the first meeting for the two programs since 1990.
