Florida State football began week three of fall practice as they hit the practice fields on Tuesday morning. After practice, wide receivers coach Ron Dugans met with the media to discuss the development of his group. On the wideouts, he said, “I’ve been excited with some of the steps we’ve taken at that position. Did a really good job the couple days before the scrimmage. Guys are growing up, guys are trying to lead vocally and by example. It’s been really good to see those guys gel together and hold each other accountable.”

When asked who has stand out among the group as a leader, Dugans said, “Keyshawn Helton. He’s one that really sticks out just encouraging guys... Keyshawn is the one that really stands out that does it on a consistent basis by how he works and how he encourages his teammates. I’m excited to see him this year.”

Andrew Parchment is a newcomer that the ‘Noles are expected to rely on in 2021. Parchment has had an up-and-down camp, but has flashed steps in the right direction over the last few practices. On Parchment, Dugans said, “I think he’s kind of been up and down at times. I thought he responded well today, came out and made some contested catches. He’s understanding now how we operate and how we practice here at Florida State. He’s taking ownership and buying to that. I think AP is taking strides in the right direction.”

FSU will also look to get contributions from true freshmen Malik McClain and Joshua Burrell in 2021. On the two freshmen, he said, “Two smart guys that play multiple positions. They’ve really challenged each other to get better, not just physically, but mentally. Those are two young guys that are smart football players and I’m excited to see them on the football field.”
