Florida State confirmed contract extensions and raises for several coaches through a public information request Friday, not just confirming that offensive line coach Alex Atkins is set to be locked up through the end of the 2023 season but also revealing some info on other coaches who received amendments to their hiring contracts.
Linebackers coach Chris Marve, extended through 2022
Chris Marve’s linebackers totaled 218 tackles and 17.5 tackles for loss. He was previously the defensive run game coordinator and linebackers coach at Mississippi State.
Tight ends coach, associate head coach Chris Thomsen, extended through 2022
Chris Thompson’s tight end group helped the Seminoles average 199.9 rushing yards per game. He previously coached the offensive line at TCU.
Running backs coach and recruiting coordinator, David Johnson, extended through 2022 and earned an annual raise
David Johnson was previously at Tennesee and spent time with head coach Mike Norvell at Memphis. His running backs averaged 5.11 yards, the most since 2015, and serving as the recruiting coordinator has helped put the Seminoles back on the map.
Defensive backs coach and defensive passing game coordinator, Marcus Woodson, extended through 2022 and earned an annual raise
Marcus Woodson was previously at Auburn and also spent time with Mike Norvell at Memphis. In the last three NFL drafts, he has put six players in the NFL.
