Game thread: Saturday CFB games conversation

College football is back! You can smell it, you can taste it, you can see the turf flying behind the heels of another exciting football season. Today we have some good matchups to get us warmed up for the primetime showdown tomorrow between the Florida State Seminoles and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 7:30 pm on ABC.

In lieu of it not being nighttime in a packed Doak Campbell Stadium tomorrow, it would be a good idea to look at what the rest of the CFB world is up to.

From earlier in the week:

• The University of North Carolina fell to Virginia Tech 17-10.
• Ohio State Buckeyes managed to stave off Minnesota after a fluttering start 45-31.
• The University of Central Florida hung it out with Boise State 36-31.
• North Carolina State pitched a harrowing shut out to the University of South Florida 45-0.
