Florida State football suffered a heart-breaking week one loss to Notre Dame. The Seminoles fell in overtime by a score of 41-38. The ‘Noles erased an 18-point deficit but fell short in the end. Both Jordan Travis and McKenzie Milton spent time behind center on Sunday. The two quarterbacks each spoke after the game.
Travis on the team’s effort: “I’m so proud of the boys. Last year, in that situation, I can’t say the result would’ve been the same. We played with a lot of grit. We fought back, but we just got to get better.”
On Milton getting in the game: “That makes me so happy. I couldn’t get a smile off my face. Just seeing him run onto the field gave me chills. I’m so happy to see him on the field. I’m so blessed to have him on my team.”
On the running back group: “You saw our guys fighting for every single inch, yard. it was just great seeing the guys going 100% and pushing.”
Milton on entering the game: “You just got to be engaged and ready to go. I ran out there and thanked god but it was time to roll, didn’t have time to process any emotions. Job had to be done to give us a chance to win the game.”
“Just trying to soak everything in but at the same time, try to go out there and execute.”
On the team’s effort: “Definitely great to be out there with those guys. lots of hard training from January up to this point. Just super proud of the way the guys fought tonight.”
On what it meant to get back to the football field: “God is real. That’s the only thing I can say. Nobody’s ever come back from an injury like this. From the moment I got hurt, coaches believing in me. From coaches at UCF to coach Norvell. I’m not here without all the support.”
On what he expects from the team moving forward: “I just got confidence in us to response. It’s a long, long season... I like our team.”
