On Tuesday night, Florida State football got a huge commitment from five-star RB Cam Akers out of Mississippi. The ‘Noles fended off Ole Miss for the No. 4 overall player in the nation and No. 2 running back according to 247 Sports Composite rankings.
It was evident from social media that fellow Florida State recruits and current Seminoles were overjoyed to hear the news. Akers has already been in contact with some of those recruits, and will play a big part in recruiting future talent when he enrolls in January.
The newest Seminole is the highest rated running back to commit to playing ball in Tallahassee since Dalvin Cook. Akers’ highlight tapes show that the comparison to the All-American is warranted.
The Army All-American is the third five-star commitment of the 2017 FSU class, joining DB Stanford Samuels III and DE Joshua Kaindoh. All three are scheduled to enroll early.
