Here are notes on FSU commits and targets from SB Nation Recruiting. Videos and articles to follow.
Florida State four-star running back commit Klahon Laborn, of Virginia, says that he won’t be scared off if five-star Cam Akers commits to FSU (Akers did commit). In fact, he has been recruiting Akers to pick FSU over Ole Miss, LSU, and Tennessee. But Laborn has not yet set an official visit to Florida State, and does not yet have a qualifying test score. He took the SAT in October, but said he does not know his score. He has scheduled another test in the coming weeks.
Florida has a connection with four-star linebacker Levi Jones, of Austin (Texas) Westlake — his father played for linebackers coach (and potential defensive coordinator hire) Randy Shannon at Miami. However, Jones says that FSU is on top for him, and that his dad prefers the Seminoles. But watch out for Texas A&M. Jones has some friends on the Aggies. Official visits to Gainesville and Tallahassee are set, with A&M, and either UCLA or USC as other options.
Five-star cornerback Stanford Samuels said that he is heavily recruiting five-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson and four-star linebacker Levi Jones to the Seminoles. He will room with four-star safety commit Cyrus Fagan.
FSU defensive end commitment Josh Kaindoh said that the player recruiting him the hardest to the Seminoles was Stanford Samuels III. He was confident FSU would land Akers.
Georgia commit Robert Beal, a four-star defensive end from IMG Academy, will take an unofficial visit to FSU in January, but says he is 100-percent solid to the Bulldogs.
5-Star DT Marvin Wilson, of Houston, announces top 5: USF (Charlie Strong connection), LSU, FSU, Ohio State and Oklahoma.
Daniel Wright, a four-star safety from South Florida recently flipped his commitment from Florida State to Alabama. Wright said that the visit to Alabama really wowed him, and was unlike anything he had seen elsewhere.
