The Under Armour All-America game is Sunday at the Citrus Bowl. With the recent addition of key players to the Seminoles’ recruiting class, there has been a lot of FSU buzz surrounding the game.
The Under Armour All-America Game started in 2008, and it’s become a high-profile fixture in the college football recruiting world during the weeks leading up to National Signing Day. The game celebrates its 10th anniversary on New Year’s Day, when it will, as usual, feature a series of blue-chip commitments and dozens of the country’s most sought-after high school seniors. The game takes place in Orlando every year.
Alums of this game are all over the NFL and the major college ranks. Getting an Under Armour game bid doesn’t mean a player’s going to be good, but it’s typically not a bad sign. Three of the four College Football Playoff participants (all except for Washington) are littered with UA All-Americans. There are four- and five-star prospects all over the field, and many of them have historically gone on to college and pro greatness.
The game is an alternative to the Army All-American Bowl, which happens next Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The Army game started in 2001.
In the realm of apparel wars, the Under Armour game is a fairly direct counterweight to Nike’s Opening recruiting camp each summer in Oregon. Sports companies like to build relationships early with tomorrow’s stars, and this is a way in for Under Armour.
The game is at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
It’s on ESPN on your television set, and it can be streamed at WatchESPN.
Florida State is not expected to have any prospects announce at the game, however it will have several stars and targets playing in it.
