If you haven’t already heard...the Seminoles have landed their No. 1 option for head coach in Willie Taggart.

Former USF head coach and Oregon defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Jim Leavitt is heading to Tallahassee with Taggart as the Seminoles’ new DC.

With Leavitt on his way, what other assistants will Taggart put together on this coaching staff?

Check out the contract details for Taggart as he embarks on his new role as the FSU head coach.

Catch up on Taggart’s hiring on this week’s impromptu Nolecast.

Willie Taggart is officially on his way to Tallahassee to be named the new head coach of the Seminoles. Don’t know much about him? No worries, we’ve got you covered.

For Taggart, this is all a dream come true, as he’s got some Garnet and Gold in his blood.

One of the attributes that new HC Willie Taggart is best known for is his ability to recruit, and there are some Oregon recruits that could follow him.

With the news breaking of Taggart’s hiring, some players, recruits and alumni took to social media to react.

Florida State is heading to the Independence Bowl to take on Southern Mississippi, and SB Nation gave each bowl game a “watching score.”

In Jimbo Fisher’s first press conference at Texas A&M, he continued to blame FSU’s lack of top-notch facilities for his shortcomings...

...to which ESPN’s Andrea Adelson took umbrage:

Seminoles open up as a 15-point favorite for the Independence Bowl versus Southern Mississippi.

Florida State star defensive back Derwin James officially declared for the NFL draft, announcing that he will not be participating in FSU’s bowl game. If you haven’t already, check out his penned letter on The Players’ Tribune to FSU. If it doesn't make you cry, you don't have a true Seminole soul.

Linemen Brock Ruble has announced that he will be forgoing his final year of eligibility.

No one’s ready for this, but Cam Akers is already about to break one of Dalvin Cook’s records.

Recruiting

In a positive turn of events, Montgomery (AL) dual-threat quarterback James Foster II has the Seminoles back in the mix. Foster is listed at 6’3, 210 lbs. He is the No. 5 ranked quarterback in the 2018 class, is No. 3 in the state, and No. 48 in the region.

Willie Taggart’s hiring has recruits excited, including Amari Gainer, the unofficial leader of the 2018 class. This is good news since recently the Seminoles have suffered 7 de-commitments.

Asante Samuel is about it too.

Alumni

’Noles alum Vince Williams led the Pittsburgh Steelers on defense with 9 total tackles and a quarterback sack in their MNF comeback win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Deion Sanders gave Xavier Rhodes, another FSU star CB alum, a call this week on NFL Game Day Prime.

“Prime Time” also had some input on the Seminoles’ hire.

Other Sports

Florida State men’s hoops dominated the No. 5 Florida Gators, beating them by 17 points...and who doesn’t love a little Gator trolling?!?

Take a look inside the box score as well as our baseline break down on the ’Noles victory over the Florida Gators.

Speaking of that win, near the end of the game we saw something familiar. Planting the flag? Nah, CJ Walker plants the ball at half court.

The pettiness is real when trolling...but this is simply a fact.

As you can imagine, the locker room was hyped post-game:

Beating the Gators on the road in Gainesville has become a tradition on all fronts.
