Linebacker Amari Gainer commits to FSU football

Keeping the local talent home.

The Florida State football program added another talented commitment to its top-ten 2018 recruiting class today— and it didn’t have to go far to do it; a drive up Thomasville Road sufficed. The Seminoles have secured the verbal pledge of four-star outside linebacker Amari Gainer, who attends Tallahassee’s Lawton Chiles High School.

Gainer, who has both camped at FSU as well as visited several times, committed to the Seminoles on Friday, making him the 10th member of Florida State’s 2018 class and the first linebacker. He currently measures 6’ 2.5” and 204 pounds, and is deemed the country’s 23rd best OLB for his class, as well as the No. 53 player in Florida.

Gainer chose the ’Noles over several other schools, including offers from Alabama, Miami, Oklahoma, Oregon, Ole Miss, Auburn, Georgia, Texas, UCLA, and Louisville, among many more. His primary recruiter has been Florida State defensive coordinator Charles Kelly.

Gainer is the tenth to join FSU’s 6th-ranked recruiting class and the 6th of the blue-chip variety.
