Four-star defensive tackle Dennis Briggs signs with FSU over Miami

The ’Noles are landing some promising talent.

Earlier today, the Florida State defense got deeper and more talented at the linebacker position, adding the commitment of blue-chip prospect Xavier Peters. Now, the Seminoles got nastier up front, securing a written commitment from four-star defensive tackle Dennis Briggs. And they stole him right away from the rival Miami Hurricanes as well.

Briggs (6-4, 252) committed to the ’Noles this weekend while on his official visit to FSU. He’d taken an official to South Carolina last weekend and Miami the weekend prior and was considered by many to be leaning toward the Hurricanes. The nation’s 25th-ranked DT, Briggs played his prep. ball at Kissimmee’s Gateway High School. Briggs is the second defensive tackle in Florida State’s 2018 class, joining fellow four-star Robert Cooper, who has already signed.

In addition to the ’Noles, ’Canes, and Gamecocks, several other prominent programs have offered Briggs, including Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Oregon, Ole Miss, and Nebraska, among others.
