Four-star offensive linemen Dontae Lucas stands by his commitment and signs with Florida State. Lucas has been a priority for Willie Taggart and co. since their arrival in Tallahassee. Lucas, held offers from from all of the major players in college football but in the end chose FSU over Miami and Florida. At one time thought to be a solid pledge, Lucas’ commitment got shaky towards the end but an official visit the weekend of December 15th sealed the deal. Taggart along with an assist from Telly Lockette were able to pull Lucas from IMG Academy.
Lucas is ranked as the 118th best player nationally and the number six guard overall.
Lucas is just what the doctor ordered for the Seminoles offensive line room. The tape tells no lies as Lucas mauls defenders off the ball. Lucas is a strong physical blocker at the point of attack with the ability to dominate in tight spaces. Playing at IMG, Lucas has received some of the best coaching in high school so his game is polished more than most high school players.
Lucas has worked to cut his weight down which will aid him when he gets to Tallahassee. Lucas has the ability to make an impact next season due to his physical nature, ability to get his foot up and back into the ground quickly, and his “I’m better than you” mindset. Lucas is an early enrollee for the 2019 class.
