Florida State signs 3-star defensive tackle Tru Thompson

Another big man in the middle of the D-line for the ’Noles.

Tru Thompson, one of the earliest commitments of the 2019 class, has made it official and signed with the Seminoles. Thompson was offered by Florida State following an on-campus football camp when he was just 14-years old. He was subsequently offered by the likes of LSU, Florida, and Miami, but his commitment to the ’Noles never wavered.

247Sports has Thompson graded as the 42nd ranked defensive tackle in the nation and the 67th ranked player in the state of Georgia.

At 6’0 338 pounds, the Grayson High School product provides a big body to anchor the defensive line. Even with his size, Thompson is versatile, having played many positions along the defensive line including three-technique and defensive end. Thompson has a restless motor that allows him to finish plays. His style is somewhat similar to that of fellow Gwinnett County native and new teammate, FSU defensive tackle Robert Cooper.
