Update 2/3 7:41 A.M: Johnson now reported that Jenkins did show up in Oxford after all around 1:30 AM on Saturday morning. Is he still heading to Florida State after Oxford? Who knows. We’ll update this article when we find out.
Original: On Friday night, Russell Johnson of RebelGrove.com reported that four-star offensive lineman Tank Jenkins will make a surprise visit to Florida State this weekend. He was originally scheduled to visit Ole Miss.
FSU and Jenkins have a long history. The ’Noles were the second of 26 teams to offer the 6’3 325 lb. prospect back in April of 2015 when he was on an unofficial visit. The Montgomery (Ala.) Park Crossing product also attended Junior Day in Tallahassee in 2016. He is ranked the No. 253 overall player in the nation, No. 11 offensive guard, and No. 8 in Alabama.
Jenkins is the cousin of Florida State target QB James Foster, who is in Tallahassee this weekend on an official visit. The ’Noles, as of now, are trending upward to land the services of Foster. The pair also visited the same school last weekend, Texas A&M.
On the other hand, Jenkins was reportedly down to his final three schools with Florida State not in contention. However, if we’ve learned from the past, anything can happen in recruiting.
