Defensive lineman Jamarcus Chatman signs with Florida State over Miami

FSU continues its blazing hot finish to #Tribe18.

Florida State is red hot on the recruiting trail with the addition of another quality lineman as Three-star defensive lineman Jamarcus Chatman has signed with Florida State. The 6’3 261lb lineman hails from Rome, HS in Rome, Georgia and is the second defensive lineman that FSU has beaten Miami for on the recruiting trail this year following the commitment of four-star DE/DT Dennis Briggs, Jr. Chatman ranks 507th nationally, 35th at his position, and 53rd within the state of Georgia within 247sports’ Composite Rankings.

Chatman played on one of the most talented high school defensive lines in the country that also featured 5-star defensive end, Adam Anderson (Georgia) , and 3-star defensive tackle Ja’Quon Griffin (Georgia Tech).

Chatman was offered by Florida State on December 20th and took his official to FSU on January 26th. Many thought he would be headed to Miami because they’d led in his recruitment throughout the entirety of the summer and the regular season and because they had the last official visit before National Signing Day but FSU won out. Willie Taggart’s relationship with Chatman and FSU’s proximity to his home was key in landing his signature.
