Four-star defensive end Malcolm Lamar chose to sign with Florida State on Wednesday.
The Seffner (Fla.) Armwood product will join teammate WR Warren Thompson in Tallahassee. The 6’5 250 lb. strong-side defensive end was visited by Florida State coaches on December 11th, four days before he made his official visit to Florida State. Despite visiting Florida on January 26th, Lamar came back to FSU on an unofficial visit this past weekend. Leading his recruitment was linebackers coach Raymond Woodie.
The No. 222 overall player in the country, No. 9 strong-side defensive end and No. 42 player in Florida according to 247 composite rankings, Lamar chose FSU over 20 other offers including Florida, Oregon, Alabama, Miami, Georgia, LSU, and Louisville among others.
Lamar is the only defensive end committed in FSU’s 2018 class. Chaz Neal, who played at defensive end in high school, will transition to the offensive line when he arrives at Florida State.
