Arian Smith is a 2020 athlete recruit to know from Mulberry (Fla.). He measured in at 6’1, 175 at the Orlando Under Armour camp. Smith is also the 2A state long jump champion, posting a jump of 23-.075.
Smith recently made the trip to see the Florida State Seminoles at the beginning of spring football. He came away impressed, and FSU has offered.
“They showed me what I can expect for football, and how I will be pushed academically,” Smith said.
He is close with FSU defensive tackles coach Odell Haggins, who has long recruited Polk County and is from Bartow, the small town next to Mulberry.
“My relationship with him is large,” Smith said. “He’s from the area I’m from and he knows my family.”
Smith would like to play both ways in college. He would also like to continue long jumping in college.
“I grew up watching FSU,” Smith said. “I want to beat Jalen Ramsey’s records.”
Smith is also going to see Auburn and Georgia, hopefully over spring break.
While his recruiting process is just beginning, it’s clear FSU has made a strong impression.
