Florida State’s big recruiting weekend is paying dividends as four-star outside linebacker Kalen DeLoach has committed to FSU. A 6’1 206 lb. athlete from Islands High School in Savannah, Georgia, DeLoach ranks 283rd nationally, 17th at his position, and 30th within the state of Georgia in 247’s National Composite rankings. He chose Florida State over offers from Clemson, South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, and Michigan and will be participating in this year’s Under-Armour All-America Game.
DeLoach isn’t the biggest linebacker, but he’s got the speed to go sideline to sideline and is a violent finisher once he gets to the ball. DeLoach uses quickness and gets skinny in traffic to avoid blockers; not allowing bigger offensive lineman to get into his chest.
DeLoach is the second blue-chip linebacker to commit to FSU for 2019 joining future teammate Jaleel McRae. Linebacker is a big time position of need for Florida State this cycle. Linebackers coach Raymond Woodie Jr. led the way in his recruitment with Greg Frey also targeting the talented athlete.
Florida State’s 2019 recruiting class now ranks 9th in the country with 16 commitments, 12 of the blue-chip variety.
