You can never have too many talented defensive linemen and Ishmael Sopsher (6’3, 334) is as good as you’ll find in this class. The five-star defensive tackle from Amite City, Louisiana is the No. 1 ranked defensive tackle in the 2019 class and the No. 6 rated player nationally.
Florida State just made his top seven, along with Alabama, LSU, Texas, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Oregon.
It is notoriously difficult to pull Louisiana kids that LSU wants out of the state and Sopsher appears to be no exception. Alabama is also in the mix, and Sopsher has taken unofficial visits to LSU, Texas A&M, and Alabama. Earlier this year Sopsher participated in The Opening Dallas and showcased his talents.
The Under Armour All-American is being recruited by Odell Haggins, and has not visited FSU this year. Florida State offered Sopsher on April 1, 2017. Sopsher’s announcement comes on the heels of FSU’s very successful Saturday Night Live event.
