Florida State football recruiting: High School recap

Florida State commits and targets in action.

CB commit, Akeem Dent

Welcome back to another week of updates on Florida State’s commits and targets. Each week, we work to report all the updates and results that we can locate from the past week’s games.

This week, we’ll start with Florida State’s top commit for 2019, Akeem Dent. The cornerback was all over the field in Palm Beach Central’s 52-10 beat down of Wellington. Dent had seven tackles and one interception in the blowout. Check out his team’s highlights below from the game, in which Dent rocks a turnover chain of his own.

Sticking on the defensive side of the ball, cornerback Travis Jay is having a ridiculous year for Madison County. Each week he is putting up some video game numbers... from the offensive side of the ball. He has been the team’s main weapon on offense. Stats were a little difficult to come by for this week’s game, but from what we could find, Jay did have at least five touchdowns in his team’s 46-6 route of Williston. Jay threw for two touchdown passes and rushed for three more.

Quarterback commit, Sam Howell, led his team to another big win this past week. Sun Valley beat Olympic 40-6. Howell, in typical form, put up a monster performance. The 2019 commit ran for over 50 yards and two touchdowns. And through the air, he threw for 195 yards and three more scores.

Maurice Goolsby, a wide receiver commit, caught a 19 yard touchdown pass in his team’s 35-13 loss.

The top defensive target on FSU’s board is Kayvon Thibodeaux. The defensive end was a force in Oak Christian’s easy 49-13 win over Murrieta Valley. Thibodeaux had four tackles, one sack, and a blocked field goal in the victory.

That’s it for this week. If you know of any other information, please let us know in the comments. Keep checking back each week for updates on #Tribe19 and the future.
