Update: After recently shutting down his recruitment, Jay just made it official, signing with FSU.
Florida State’s defensive back room just got much better. Four-star Under Armour All-American Travis Jay has shut down his recruitment and will sign with Florida State University.

The 6 ‘2’ 185lb DB from Madison Country High School in Madison, Florida is the latest Cowboy to become a Seminole. Joining the likes of FSU alumni Chris Thompson & Jacobbi McDaniel.
Jay ranks 150th nationally, 18th at his position, and 19th within the state of Florida, but in my opinion, is one of the more underrated recruits in the country. He committed to FSU on March 13rd, 2018 and has largely been uninterested in the recruiting/camp circuit aspect of recruiting since then. Travis Jay chose FSU over offers from Clemson, Alabama, Miami, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, and many others.
Jay projects as a safety at Florida State but could also play corner-back at a high level. An elite athlete he did it all for Madison County playing QB, RB, CB, S en route to a state championship and being named 1A Player of the Year:

Travis is athletic to play either safety or corner-back at a high level at the next level; Jay is a perfect fit for Harlon Barnett’s defense because it requires safeties to be able to match-up in single coverage & have enough speed to carry vertical routes; it’s why Stanford Samuels III initially played safety while Levonta Taylor was healthy.
