Update: Fitzgerald has made it official with the ’Noles, having recently inked his Letter of Intent as part of National Signing Day. Be sure to check here for all your FSU NSD coverage.
Florida State has landed its next kicker, grabbing a verbal commitment from Ryan Fitzgerald of Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, GA. Specialists are ranked a little differently than other players, so even though he’s the No. 16 kicker in the country for the class of 2019, Fitzgerald (6’, 185) is a composite three-star prospect.
Fitzgerald is also the No. 231 player from Georgia, and the nation’s 2,738th recruit overall. He also has offers from Kansas, Baylor, Houston, Boise State, UCF, Akron, South Alabama, Air Force, FAU, and others. Fitzgerald will most likely redshirt in 2019, acclimating to college while learning behind senior kicker Ricky Aguayo. His commitment comes after visiting FSU this weekend, along with several other important targets. Fitzgerald gained his offer from the ’Noles earlier today and wasted little time in making the call to wear the garnet and gold.
Of course, punter Logan Tyler is also a senior— it remains to be seen how Florida State will replace him after the 2019 season.
