Just days before Florida State’s 2020 recruiting class will be made final, the Seminoles added a preferred walk-on kicker today in Clearwater’s Aidan Shahriari. Shahriari, who’s listed by MaxPreps at 6’, 190, played his high school ball at Calvary Christian and will join the already enrolled Aussie punter Alex Mastromanno as a specialist in this class. Shahriari joins just a pair of place-kickers on the ’Nole roster: redshirt-junior Parker Grothaus and redshirt-freshman Ryan Fitzgerald.
Shahriari made 17 of 23 field goals during his prep. ball, with a long of 53. He also converted on 72-77 PATs. This is normally where we’d include a little something along the lines of a scouting report, but come on, how do you scout a kicker? He uses his right foot— there you go.
Instead, we figured you might rather enjoy video of him making a 71-yard field goal earlier this year. Yeah yeah, we know there’s no defense— but that’s still some nice pop.
Crazy day at the @KohlsKicking National Senior Challenge! Won the field goal competition with a 71 yard ball! @WarriorsFB_HC pic.twitter.com/SjVfc8ZGfH
