But it gets better than that...

Derrick Edwards III is 5-foot-11 175 pound athlete from Miami. He attends Palmetto HS (a program loaded with talent). He currently has an 84 rating on the 247 Sports Composite and is considered the 954th best player in the Class of 2021 (69th best safety and 115th best player in Florida).

He lists offers from Baylor, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Tennessee, Washington State, West Virginia, and others.

But this offer in January meant more:

He was invited to Tallahassee for Junior Day:

And was looking to Seminole fans for love earlier this week:

This afternoon, he released a top-10 which included FSU:

TN had a chance to catch up with Edwards and learn more about his recruitment:

You’re releasing a top-10 this afternoon. Where does FSU currently stand?

“FSU is leading in my recruitment right now. I’d love to get up there as soon as possible.”

When are you planning to have a final decision?

“After spring.”

What position does FSU see you playing?

“Corner, but I told them [I’ll play] wherever they need me.”

What current teammates are you trying to recruit to FSU (I know there’s a lot of talent on that team)?

“Mostly Corey (Collier) because his dad went there.”

And what does he say/think about FSU?

“He likes it for sure—top contender.”

(we’re working to follow-up with CC to get his side of the story)

Why is FSU so high for you?

“Coach Norvell sets a standard that’s very high, and I feel like that’s what’s going to make me the best.”

What would it mean to be part of Coach Norvell’s first full recruiting class?

“It would mean everything because of all the work I put in its all here now.”

What’s the buzz about FSU’s new coaching staff?

“They bring the energy when you get up there. They’re cool people to be around.”

Finally, who are some players you model your game after?

Jamal Adams and Jalen Ramsey.”
