All recruiting activity has been placed on hold until April 15th. We’ll use this newly enacted dead period to evaluate Florida State’s recruiting position by position. This is not meant to be an all inclusive list, but a snapshot of which players are trending with FSU.
We’ll start with the Quarterback position. After bringing in two quarterbacks for the 2020 class, Florida State is expected to sign either one or two at this position.
Current commit(s):
Luke Altmyer. The 3-star quarterback committed to the Florida State Seminoles in February.
At 6’3 and nearly 200 pounds, Altmyer possesses the size you want at quarterback.
Altmyer shows an ability to make snap throws throughout his highlight tape. This is important in today’s college offenses because of the RPO game.
For a detailed scouting report of Altmyer, check out our previous article.
Trending target(s):
Colten Gauthier. 6’3 205 pound quarterback out of Hebron Christian Academy (Dacula, GA). Gauthier was offered by Florida State in January. The 3-star has an above average arm, the ability to elude would be tacklers in the pocket, and accuracy on his deep throws.
Kaidon Salter. 6’1 185 pound 4-star quarterback from Cedar Hill High School (Cedar Hill, TX). He visited FSU on March 9th. Salter is a strong armed, dual-threat quarterback who makes defenders miss in the open field.
Florida State’s quarterback recruiting is not currently a major need with Altmyer already in the fold. At this time, it’s unsure if Coach Norvell is determined to add another quarterback to the 2021 class.
UPDATE: Welp. Gauthier committed to Will Muschamp’s South Carolina Gamecocks earlier on Wednesday (3/18):
