Nick James is a 6’3 265 pound defensive lineman Prattville, AL, who recently transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL.

The Class of 2022 prospect holds offers from Auburn, Miami (FL), Mississippi State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and West Virginia, among others.

Monday afternoon, he received an offer from Florida State:

How did you receive the offer?

“My DL coach at IMG texted me and said Coach (Odell) Haggins at Florida State wants to offer you.”

What do you know about Florida State?

“I don’t [know] much being from Alabama.”

Do you plan on visiting FSU after the Dead Period to learn more?


We just saw your teammate Tyler Booker (top-20 player in c/o ‘22) tweet this—what does it mean?

“He was just congratulating me and saying we might have to visit [Tallahassee] soon.”

How would you describe your game and after what player do you model it?

“Athletic, strong, physical, [and] I try to model my game after Aaron Donald.”

Did you grow up a fan of any particular school?

“Not really.”

What offer(s) are you most looking forward to receiving?

“Georgia, Clemson, [and] Alabama.”

What’s the biggest thing you’re looking for in a school?

“A family-like atmosphere.”
