Star in the making.

Peter Woods is a 6’4 250 pound strong-side defensive end from Alabaster, AL.

The Class of 2023 prospect attends Thompson High School.

The main sites haven’t done their rankings yet, but Tom Lemming has the Alabama star as the top defensive lineman in his class:

He was named first-team Freshman All-American by Max Preps:

Although Woods just completed his freshman year, he holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Maryland, Miami (FL), Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, and USC, among others.

Florida State offered in April:

TN caught up with Woods after the offer to get a better look at his recruitment:

How’d you get the offer?

“I was on the phone with Coach Woodson, and we were just talking about quarantine, and ways I can stay active. Then, at the end of the conversation, he told me that I had an offer.”

Do you have a previous relationship with Woodson from his time at Auburn?

“I actually met him a few days after he took the coaching job at FSU, and the relationship started there.”

What was your reaction to the offer?

“It meant a lot to be considered by a high-powered ACC school such as Florida State.”

What position do you see yourself playing in college?

“I’m pretty versatile across the front line, where I can play anything from DT to standing up for an edge rush.”

How would you describe your game?

“I think my game is closely related to Khalil Mack’s and how he can use his length and quickness to create separation.”

Do you plan to visit FSU when the Dead Period is lifted?

“For sure!”

What other school(s) do you hope to visit?

“LSU, Bama, Georgia, Florida, and more.”

What are the biggest things you’re looking for in a school?

“Almost all the schools recruiting me have successful football programs, but what sets a school apart is the environment off the field, whether that be academic or physical training with the medical staff!”

Your recruitment has obviously started sooner than most because of your ability—has that moved the timeline for your final decision at all?

“It’s really a blessing that I’m getting this much attention early, but I’m going to take my time making my decision, so it’s the right fit for me and my family. [However,] I have spoke with my parents and counselors about early enrollment.”
