TN caught up with Martinez after the offer to get a better look:
How’d you receive the Florida State offer, and what’d it mean to you?
“I received the offer when I was on the phone with Coach Woodson. It meant a lot, especially now with all this Corona stuff going on.”
What was the conversation like with Coach Woodson?
“We had a good conversation just about life in general and how I would be able to fit and turn FSU towards a better future. We’re both family guys.”
When you think of Florida State, what comes to mind?
“Deion Sanders, Jalen Ramsey, and Derwin James. They all were big factors of [the] Florida State program, and the best to do it in [their] position in the NFL.”
As a Florida kid did you grow up a fan of one of the in-state programs?
“I was really interested in Florida State growing up, but my favorite team was always Alabama.”
How much would an Alabama offer mean, then?
“It would mean a lot!”
How would you describe your game?
“I would say I’m really physical and patient, and I really know the game of football.”
What player(s) do you look up to/model your game after?
“CJ Henderson, Jeff Okudah, Jalen Ramsey, and Marshon Lattimore.”
Do you plan to visit FSU when the Dead Period is over?
What other schools do you plan/hope to visit?
“Clemson, and if camps are still happening this summer, I’ll be at Alabama and LSU.”
What are the biggest things you’re looking for in a school?
“A good program academically and athletically, and a place that feels like a home.”
Any idea what you want to study in college
“Because I’m a money guy, so I want to make sure everything is good.”
Final one: when do you hope to have a final decision made on college?
“End of my Junior year.”
