Laterrance Welch is a 6’1 180 pound cornerback from Lafayette, LA.

The Class of 2022 prospect attends Acadiana High School.

In early May, he was offered by the Florida State Seminoles football program:

Shortly after the offer, we caught up with Welch to learn more about his recruitment:

What was your reaction to the offer?

“It was blessing to get [and] a huge offer because some of the best corners attended that school.”

Who’d you talk to, and what was that conversation like?

“I talked to Coach Woodson. It was a great conversation—it felt like I [knew] him.”

How would you describe your game?

“Fundamental, patient, and I have great ball skills.”

What player(s) do you look up to/model your game after?

“I model my game after Jalen Ramsey, but I look up to Derek Stingley Jr.

Do you plan to visit FSU when the Dead Period’s over?

“Of course; it would be a honor.”

Might you visit w/ some of your 7-on teammates?

“Yessir, I’d love to.”

What other schools do you hope/plan to visit?

“I’d love to visit as many school as I could—haven’t really planned on visiting none yet—can’t wait until the dead period is over.”

Finally, what are the biggest things you’re looking for in a school?

“Building relationships with the coaches—I don’t care what name the school has—I want to go to a school that fits me the best.”
