We caught up with Lundy during the lockdown to learn more about his recruitment and future goals:
Do you mind giving us a little background on your recruitment?
From the outside, it seemed like a UGA or VT battle, but then FSU came in at the last minute and got your signature.
“The official visit was the nail in the coffin for me.”
What exactly was it about the OV that sealed the deal?
“The coaches are the real deal. It just felt like family—I was comfortable, and it felt like it was the place I should be at for the next 3-4 years.”
With which coaches did you connect?
“Coach Norvell, Adam Fuller, [and] Coach Marve.”
What’s Coach Norvell like?
“He’s a cool dude, but at the same time he [keeps] it real.”
And Coach Fuller?
“He’s a good dude—always good energy.”
Do you mind describing Coach Marve, as well?
“Same energy, keys the little things, also very respectful.”
What position does FSU see you playing?
“Mike linebacker.”
How would you describe your game for those who haven’t seen you play?
“Physical; hard-nosed hitter.”
What player(s) do you look up to and/or model your game after?
“Bobby Wagner.”
If you don’t mind, tell us about your wrestling career—what made you take up the sport?
“One of my friends pushed me to wrestle in fourth grade, and I never looked back—I was a natural.”
What made you so good?
“I just have good hips and hands.”
How do you think your wrestling background has helped with your football development?
“It correlates to good hands on the field, as well, and being able to get off blocks. Wrestling has also put [me] in better shape and allowed [me] to compete at a high level longer.”
How has this whole lockdown situation been treating you—what have you been up to?
“Zoom sessions and working out.”
What all are you doing right now as it relates to next year—have you gotten a playbook?
“Yes—I’m studying the playbook.”
What are your goals athletically and academically for your first year at FSU?
“Start as a freshman and finish with a 4.0 GPA.”
What do you think you need to do in order to start as a freshman?
“Work hard; study even harder.”
What goals have you set for your entire career at FSU and beyond?
“Get my degree [and] be the best linebacker to come through FSU.”
Any idea what you want to study in college?
“I haven’t decided yet.”
Final one: what’s one unique thing about you people might not know?
“I’m a country boy.”
Stay tuned for a full scouting report from Coach AB on Wednesday.
