Tywone Malone is a 6’3.5 300 pound defensive tackle from Oradell, NJ.

The Class of 2021 prospect attends Bergen Catholic High School and has a 97 rating (high 4-star) from the 247 Sports Composite List. The sites consider him the 53rd best player in America (4th best DT and best player in New Jersey).

Malone has offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami (FL), Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Rutgers, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and USC, among many others.

Which coach(es) did you speak with when getting the offer?

“I was talking to Coach Odell Haggins.”

What was that conversation like?

“He just [talked] about me fitting good in the program, and that I could be a dominant focus on the field.”

What was your reaction to the Florida State offer?

“I felt blessed when they [gave] me the offer.”

How often do you speak to Coach Odell?

“We talk about twice a week.”

Do you speak with any of the other FSU coaches?

“I also talk to Coach Norvell.”

Do you plan to visit Florida State when the Dead Period’s over?

“Yes.”

What other schools are you planning/hoping to visit?

“I’m gonna try to visit Florida, USC, Tennessee.”

How would you describe your playing style?

“Dominant run-stopper.”

What player(s) do you look up to/model your game after?

Aaron Donald.”

Other than Coach Haggins, what stands out to you about FSU?

“[Their] amazing coaching staff—they just care about [their] players and will help them with anything.”

What do you like to do for fun outside of football?

“Play video games, or hang out with my friends.”

What are the biggest things you’re looking for in a school when making your final decision?

“Pretty much a school that will let me play both baseball and football, [and] have a good relationship with the head coach and my position coach.”

And have you spoken with FSU about baseball?

“They said I could do both.”
