The Class of 2021 prospect attends Olive Branch High School and is unranked in the 247 Sports Composite List, although 247 has him as the 59th best tight end in America and the 18th best player in Mississippi. He has an 85 rating (3-star).
Despite the low ranking, Shead has offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas State, Louisville, LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, TCU, and UCF, among others.

Sunday night, Shead tweeted that he planned to cut his list to three on Monday afternoon and indicated a final decision would be forthcoming:
