TN caught up with Smith recently to learn more:
Who did you speak to when getting the offer?
“I spoke with Coach Atkins.”
What was that conversation like?
“It went well—we talked about taking a visit once everything clears. Also talked about family.”
What was your reaction when he told you FSU was offering?
“I was very excited because it’s one of the top schools I wanted.”
Do you mind expounding on that—why did you want Florida State so badly?
“Because of the legacy of the program.”
What other schools would you put up there?
“Georgia and Alabama.”
What position do you expect to play in college?
“MLB/OLB.”
How would you describe your style of play?
“Very versatile—I feel I could play anywhere on the field!”
What player(s) do you look up to/model your game after?
“Isaiah Simmons, Derwin James, and Reuben Foster.”
What are some things you like to do for fun away from the football field?
“Lift weights, watch movies, draw, and read.”
What do you like to draw and what do you like to read?
“I like to draw portraits of people, and I like to read thriller crime books.”
Any idea what you want to study in college?
“Psychology.”
What are the biggest things you’re looking for in a school when making your final decision?
“Location, the school’s ability to help with life after football, and the relationship with coaches/players.”
