In a similar vein of what was allowed for spring athletes (that several Florida State Seminoles athletes have taken advantage of), the NCAA is on the path towards allowing seniors to retain a year of eligibility and not count against the sports’ scholarship limit:

Recruiting:

The recruiting class of 2023 got its new ratings on Wednesday, and one major beneficiary was Florida State commit Cedric Baxter Jr., who earned a fourth star.

One of the top quarterbacks in the class and FSU target Malachi Nelson was rated as the No. 6 QB in 2023 on that new list — and his teammate Makai Lemon, the No. 1 athlete in the class, received a Florida State offer Wednesday.

Four-star 2021 defensive end Shambre Jackson, who visited FSU in the spring, included the Seminoles in his top 5.

JUCO tight end commit Koby Gross, who hails from California but is currently living in Tampa, is headed to campus:

Football:

During yesterday’s media availability, we got the chance to hear from head coach Mike Norvell on his team’s condensed practice (focused mainly on special teams and situational drills), defensive line coach Odell Haggins on the lessons he’s imparting to his players, defensive back Travis Jay and defensive end Quashon Fuller about their journey’s back to the field and punter Alex Mastromanno about his adjustments to American football and struggles with bad coffee and poor Australian accents.

We’ll be hearing from Norvell and other members of the team starting at 11:30 a.m. today.

Can’t get enough of the video analysis that our big brains on the scheme team have been knocking out lately? CoachAB and Kevin Little (XsAndNoles) break down the film (well, highlights) of FSU’s freshmen quarterbacks, Chubba Purdy and Tate Rodemaker.

FSU? In a top 25? CBS put Florida State at No. 22 in its preseason poll.
