Florida State Seminoles football offered a pair of 2024 quarterbacks on Saturday: Maealiuaki Smith and Julian Sayin, with both players hailing from California.
Sayin’s other current offer is from Florida Atlantic, while Smith’s only offer is from the Seminoles.
The offers were extended by offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Kenny Dillingham and are the first to quarterbacks in the 2024 class. In 2023, four star and No. 2 ranked pro-style quarterback Malachi Nelson has been FSU’s main target so far — though Colin Houck also holds an offer from FSU, his only current. The Seminoles previously had a 2022 quarterback commit in Chad Mascoe, though he announced back in March that he was reopening his recruitment. The Seminoles currently have eight total offers out to quarterbacks in the 2022 class — with some of the top names to watch including four-star Nicco Marichol, four-star MJ Morris and four-star Ty Simpson.
In the 2021 class, of course, Florida State has a quarterback commit in Luke Altmyer, who saw a slow recruiting start pick up steam following his offer from FSU — a positive sign for the ability for this staff to identify talent.

Florida State has offered 6-foot-3, 185 pound freshman quarterback @maealiuaki from Folsom High School. The news was first reported by @adamgorney. Definitely a name to keep an eye on in the 2024 class. @Passing_Academy

That’s why it’s encouraging that the Seminoles are making moves on quarterbacks who are yet to take a snap on a high school field yet — the staff is doing their homework, evaluating talent and not riding recruiting rankings to spot potential contributors.
