TN caught up with Buxton shortly after the offer to learn more:
Who’d you speak with when getting the offer?
“I spoke to Coach David Johnson.”
What was that conversation like?
“It was an exciting call. I had just gotten home from my 7-8 workout, and out of nowhere my mom told me that someone wanted to speak to me, and she then gave me the phone which Coach David was on there, and [we] talked for a bit then he told me that he had and the staff had been watching me—then he told me that they wanted to offer me.”
What was your reaction to the offer?
“I was excited/surprised because I had no idea that I would be getting offered, and then on top of that, I was offered at 8:30 in the morning.”
What do you know about Florida State?
“I know it’s a great school academically and for athletics—also that some of the best players in the NFL have [come] from Florida State.”
How would you describe your game?
“I’m quick off of the edge and light on my feet, and I can also be put in the middle and use my speed and power to mover bigger offensive linemen off their feet.”
What player(s) do you look up to/model your game after?
“Cameron Jordan, J.J. Watt, and Aaron Donald.”
What do you look to do for fun outside of football?
“I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I’m also a basketball player, so I enjoy playing basketball, and I like to go fishing.”
What’s a fun/random fact about you people might not know?
“I wear a size 16 in shoes and I’m only 15.”
Do you plan to visit FSU when the Dead Period is finally over?
“Yes, sir.”
What are the biggest things you’re looking for in a potential school?
“Good in academics, great coaches to help me get to the next level, and a place that makes me feel like I’m a part of their family and comfortable.”
