Emery Jones is a 6’4 330 pound offensive lineman from Baton Rouge, LA.
The Class of 2022 prospect attends Catholic High School and has an 88 rating (high 3-star) from the 247 Sports Composite List. The sites consider him the 9th best offensive guard and 16th best player in Louisiana.
Jones has offers from the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels, Penn State Nittany Lions, and Texas A&M Aggies, among others, so it’s a little surprising he isn’t ranked more highly.
In early June, he was offered by Florida State:

TN caught up with Jones recently to get a better look at his recruitment:
Who’d you speak to when getting the offer?
“I talked to Coach Atkins and Coach Norvell.”
What was that like?
“It was just really getting to know them and the culture of [their] school—[they’re] really cool people, and they were interested in me not only as a football player, but as a person.”
What was your reaction to the offer?
“It was kind of surreal because before I got the offer my head coach and Coach Atkins are best friends. So I kind of knew how good of a coach he was. Coach Fertita even told me he was one of the best o-line coaches in the nation. So my main reaction was just that the offer was a blessing.”
What do you know about Florida State?
“I know they have a great program and a great team. I also know a little bit about what they did with the black culture, and the role they played in that.”
How would you describe your style of play?
“I’m a big guy who’s very versatile and long. I’m physical, quick, and flexible.”
What players do you look up to/model your game after?
“I try to model my game after the LT for the Dallas Cowboys (Tyron Smith). He came from the same area I come from, and he also played for the same little league team I played for. He also has the same play style I go for.”
What do you like to do for fun outside of football?
“I like to play basketball, video games, and just stuff regular teenagers do. Also what some people don’t know is that I play wide receiver on the side (lol). So outside of actual football, I do one-on-ones with WRs and DBs.”
What’s a fun/random thing about you that most people don’t know?
“I’m one of the best trash talkers—I get in people’s head in a video game and make them quit.”
Do you plan to visit FSU when Dead Period ends?
“Oh yeah 100%. They’re definitely in my top schools I want to visit, from what I saw on YouTube and stuff, and it looks like a great practice.”
What other schools do you hope to visit?
“My goal is to try and visit as many as possible, so I could see the cultures of the schools.”
What are the biggest things you’re looking for in a school?
“One of the biggest factors would be I know there’s a family in the locker room and in the coaching staff. The family aspect of a team is a huge deal for me.”
