Updating FSU baseball’s rankings in the polls

Where will ‘Noles rank after series win over UNF?

Larry Novey/FSU sports info

Florida State baseball got off to a 2-1 start to the season this weekend, as they swept a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon against UNF. FSU did drop their opener, but should still be a consensus top-25 team. Just five of D1Baseball’s top-25 teams swept a three-game series this weekend. The top three teams, UF, UCLA, and Texas Tech, all lost their series.

The Seminoles were solid in the box against the Ospreys. FSU posted a .292 average, .434 OBP, and .479 SLG%. FSU was sloppy defensively, making five errors in three games. On the mound, Florida State was inconsistent. The ‘Noles gave up 26 free passes in 27 innings.

Here’s where FSU stood at the start of the season:

Baseball America: #9

NCBWA: #16

USA Today Coaches poll: #21

Perfect Game: #21

D1Baseball: #24

We will update Florida State’s rankings in the poll as they become available over the next two days.

Florida State remained in Baseball America’s top 10 at #9. Ole Miss is the site’s new #1, while Florida drops to #7.

FSU will remain in the top 25 in both Perfect Game and D1Baseball’s rankings. Both sites have FSU much lower than Baseball America. The ‘Noles are #24 in D1Baseball’s poll and #22 in Perfect Game’s.
