Florida State baseball’s Parker Messick has been named the ACC pitcher of the week after his dominant outing against Virginia on Friday night. The southpaw through eight scoreless innings as the Seminoles took down the #16 Cavs by a score of 2-0.

Messick had a rough start to the season with five earned runs in the season opener, but has been electric since. Against UVA, he was at his very best in a moment he called his favorite ever on a baseball field, topping his three-inning save at Florida.

The Plant City native didn’t walk a single batter and allowed just three hits in the outing. He mowed down Virginia hitters with 11 strikeouts. Messick was in command of all four of his pitches and kept UVA off-balance all night.

Through three outings, Messick holds a 3.52 ERA with 23 K’s in 15.1 IP. When all four pitches are on, the second-year freshman is one of the most dominant pitchers in the ACC. This could be the first of many ACC honors Messick receives in his FSU career.
