Florida State baseball (15-9, 10-8 ACC) got back on track with a 3-1 record over the past week. The Seminoles clinched their fourth ACC series win in six tries with a dominant rubber match win over North Carolina. The ‘Noles pitchers bounced back in a big way, not allowing more than two earned runs in any of the four games. After the strong week, Florida State saw slight positive movement in the polls. FSU is still a consensus top-25 team and ranked as high as 17 by D1Baseball. The ‘Noles will look to extend their win streak to three against Jacksonville tonight. The Seminoles are 3-0 in midweek games this season. FSU currently stands third in the Atlantic Division of the ACC.

The Seminoles’ pitching staff is unmatched in the conference. FSU is first in the ACC with a 2.95 ERA, 6.59 H/9, three shutouts, 11.9 K/9, and a 1.15 WHIP. Parker Messick is 4th in the country with 63 strikeouts. Chase Haney leads the country with 16 appearances. Conor Grady is top-fifty with four wins. FSU’s offense has been powered by the long ball. Florida State is first in the conference with 35 homers and second with 123 walks. Matheu Nelson’s 10 homers are fifth most homers in the country. Elijah Cabell has homered in five of the last six games. Tyler Martin, FSU’s table-setter, is seventh in the country with 24 walks. Robby Martin’s 29 RBI are ranked 36th. Florida State has a .972 fielding percentage.

Jacksonville has had a very tough time getting going in 2021. The Dolphins, led by head coach Chris Hayes, are sitting at 6-18 after being swept by Stetson this past weekend. The Dolphins have really struggled on both sides of the ball. At the plate, they’re hitting .240 and have an on-base percentage of .307. In 24 games, they have just six homers. On the mound, JU has a 6.30 ERA and allowed a .276 average against. The Dolphins have allowed 78 extra base hits in 210 innings of work. In the field, they’ve posted a .967 FLD%.
