The New Bloods take on Blue Bloods

NCAA Basketball: North Carolina at Florida State Melina Myers-USA TODAY Sports

After a long layoff, Florida State Seminoles basketball got a much-needed win over the NC Wolfpack — not just getting the victory, but doing it in an unprecedented fashion, setting school records for efficiency.

Next on the docket comes the North Carolina Tar Heels (8-4, 3-2), heading into Tallahassee on a three-win streak in what has been an up-and-down season for the household name.

From our preview from Michael Rogner:

UNC does one thing well on offense - they absolutely dominate the boards. The Tar Heels are grabbing over 42% of their own misses, which is 2nd best nationally. If they’re able to break FSU’s home ACC winning streak, that will likely be the reason.

Freshman phenom Scottie Barnes is a game-time decision.

From Austin Cox:

In terms of his status for Saturday’s matchup, it will be a game-time decision as to whether Barnes will play against North Carolina. A condensed schedule for FSU with two games in the next three days may factor into the decision. Hamilton gave an update Friday on his availability.

“He still has a turned ankle; we really don’t know. We probably won’t know until game time as to where he is,” Hamilton said. “I always err on the side of caution, if a guy is not 100 percent.”
